At the risk of loosing any credibility that I have left....I think I just captured a picture of a UFO! I am not or was not a believer but here is the story:
After I took this picture (today the 25th)..I moved to the other side of the church to photo it. Try to follow the sequence...When taking HDR photos...The camera automatically takes 3 consecutive photos...one right after the other within 1 second of each shot. No sound of jets or planes were present when I took the pictures. Pretty run of the mill HDR shoot. When I got home and downloaded the pics into lightroom (the program I use to download pictures) I looked at the three consecutive shots. The camera digitally puts the time to the second when it was taken. The three images were 1 second apart from each other. The first shot was as you would expect...the second shot ...1 second later has something in the sky above the church...the third shot...1 second after that has nothing in the sky again!!
I was not looking through the viewfinder because it was on a tripod...I was looking directly at the church and surroundings as the three shots clicked off...I saw nothing out of the ordinary, yet the second shot taken has a definite object in the sky. One second there and the next second gone!
Over thew weekend I will try to take a screen capture showing the times and the photos directly from the camera with no enhancements...if I can...I will let you decide.
You all have known me for about a year now...I consider myself a fairly stable person yet I can't explain this one!
Thought you would like to know...I am really not pulling your leg!
You could set up a separate UFO-blog, and link to it... Not sure what it would do for your general credibility, though... You do remember it's a month yet to Halloween, right?! ;)
Dawn Treader..!!! I knew you guys would think I have flipped my lid...gone off the deep end...become a paranoid schizophrenic...lost all touch with reality...and so on....
Really though I am going to post them on my smug mug account and will get back to you on the link. You decide if I am crazy or not! My son has seen them and he thinks it is a bug that got on the lens...probably so but I can't say for sure.
Dan, I'm just teasing you, because you started advertising Halloween in Mid September on your blog (the library)... Bug on the lens is what went through my mind too WITHOUT having seen the pics... but I'll try to keep an open mind... :) Just email it if you are not ready to show it to the whole world...
OK...at the risk of being labeled "Ole Crazy Dan"...here is the link to the photos. Read the captions below the images and let me know what you think. I know you guys are aware that I can manipulate images in photoshop...however...these are not manipulated and this is no Halloween prank. Let me know what you think. I am also going to post this link on my other photoblog.
Dawn Treader...I know you were just giving me a hard time...I enjoyed it!
Dan... I looked, and if it's any comfort I do not believe you faked it ;) ... However, I'm still with your son's opinion that it's a bug!
I would actually even dare a guess that it is some kind of hoverfly, headed towards the left of the picture. Look it up in Wikipedia and compare the shape of it! Rather boring explanation, compared to a UFO, I'm afraid... sorry ;)
Of course there MAY be a planet out there somewhere where they do build their space ships exactly like that... And they just happened to accidentally press the anti-invisibility button for a second while flying over your church... ooops!... That would certainly have made a great autumn find... (You might still try selling it to some UFO magazine...)
Sweet dreams tonight! - I do hope you won't be reported kidnapped by aliens tomorrow...
Well, Dan, this has certainly been a lot more entertaining than anything on my TV channgels tonight, anyway... :D
(By the way, some of my friends would probably consider the most hilarious aspect of it all to be me pretending to be an expert on insects... If I were you, I'd ask for a second opinion from someone like Scriptor or GB...)
It's me again... I had turned off the computer and was going to bed (it's 10.30 pm here) when suddenly this song from the 70's got into my head. And I just had to go back on the internet and check if it might possibly be on Youtube... I have realized recently that almost everything is on Youtube. So was this one! And because this discussion started with a picture of a church, I just have to share it... Heather might be to young to have ever heard it before. And Dan, I have no idea what kind of circles you moved in back in the early 70s... But it was the time of the Jesus Movement, which also involved a revival for much talk about the end of the world, and the second coming of Christ. And there was this Christian singer-songwriter and rock musician Larry Norman, who wrote a song entitled UFO... Listen to it here:
14 shared some appreciation:
Great atmosphere. Love the sky.
I can feel the chill in the air. It's a lovely church.
Sunny :)
Thanks guys...have a great weekend.
Dan

Oooooooh....Dan... Can't wait to see them!!!
This is beautiful, by the way :)
Rather than take up space on the blog...I will post the three pics somewhere where we can all access them..Any ideas??
