After the previous heavy snowfall (the one 2½ weeks ago - we've had more since then!) I experimented with setting my digital camera on black-and-white for some pictures. This is one of them. I couldn't really find that it made a whole lot of a difference compared to turning colour photos into black-and-white afterwards by editing, though.

Not sure anyone had time to notice, but for a while there were double posts up with this picture. I'm not sure what happened. I thought I had pre-scheduled. Then when I checked this morning, I couldn't find this post either on the blog or in the dashboard list. So I thought I must have forgotten, and put in a new one. Then later when I came back - both posts were showing. I've now removed one but in case two are still showing up in someone's reading list, that's why. Mysterious things sometimes happen in the bloggosphere...
Dawn Treader...great picture and perfect for black and white. your comment about seeing any difference in converting the photo in software or in the camera is a good comment. The one thing I always suggest is to convert it in software...then you always have a color shot if you want it. If it is done in the camera...you don't have a color backup.

Thanks Dan. Yes, on that day, just for experiment, I set the camera to b&w for some pictures, but also took pictures in colour of some of the same views. With editing I really can't tell the difference. Was curious whether the more professional eye perhaps sees it differently!
I like the depth on this one, and how it looks just like I stepped out into the snow and looked down the street.
Love this! It makes me want hot cocoa and a blanket and good book on a cozy window seat...
Jennifer - Yes, that does often seem a much better alternative than actually going out in it...! ;)
