Is anyone out there?

IMG_2199

Hello, friends from all over the world! I haven't been here for a little while, life has carried me away and I find myself distracted with it. I imagine many of you who are members here at Soaring are finding yourselves on your own hamster wheel of life, because we've not seen you in awhile, either.

When I began this blog, years ago, it was out of curiosity and a love for photography. I wanted to travel the world over through your eyes and in sharing a theme, it enabled us to have common ground. I am curious of how many people are actually visiting our corner of the blog world, I'll have to check on those stats to see.

I've kept Soaring active through the efforts of our friend, Betty. She has been so helpful to me posting themes each week and sharing her New Zealand world with us. Thank you, Betty.

This post is a call to action, really. Knowing that I've not had time to maintain it accordingly and finding Betty doing much of the work, I am wondering if we should close down. Could you please give us some feedback, whether you are a contributor or visitor here at Soaring.

We would appreciate it.

♥ Heather

Oh, and the cup is one of my favorites from the cupboard...within in it holds creamy hot chocolate and some frothy whipped cream {also a favorite}.

I do try and stop in and post...but like you, life keeps us busy. I support whatever you decide to do! And fully understand if you close down...although it would be sad. :(

Same response as Rebecca really, Heather. I tend to post simply because I think I ought to rather than for the fun of it and I'm not sure that's a good reason. Nevertheless, if it is decided to keep it going I shall continue to post the occasional photo when time permits. I do enjoy seeing other people's and well done to Betty for all her pictures as well as doing the themes.

I concur with everything above, life has been a challenge for me over the last year and it's been difficult to thing of anything beyond the next day or week at times. Well done to Betty for doing an amazing job, it would be a shame to lose Soaring, but I would understand if you closed it down..
Perhaps a slight change of format would spark new interest....a single word instead of a theme..? You could perhaps put a list up on the sidebar and just let it roll for a couple of months at a time..? Just a suggestion, whatever you decide Heather I'll stand by...lovely cup too by the way and great DoF....

Maybe others have been like me, I had a difficult time during the holidays and posted little here and other blogs including my own. I do enjoy seeing photos from places I'll never be able to visit, so I'd be disappointed if this stopped.

Like Scrappy Grams, I too enjoy seeing photos from places that I will never be able to visit in person, so I too would be disappointed if this stopped. . . however, I also know and understand the effort and commitment it takes to maintain a current blog. . . and will support your decision either way!
Kindest Regards,

I love to see all the photos, too.

My thought was to just leave it open to post favorites whenever you feel moved, no themes or constraints.

My answer would be similar those already given by others. I did like the idea originally and it was an important "step" for me in blogging to join this one in the beginning. Now I have to confess I often tend to forget to stop by here.

One reason because like others, I too have had a lot going on elsewhere.

Another because people I used to be in touch with via this blog are no longer posting here much either.

Third, when I ponder about it now: It strikes me that in the current home page layout the thumbnail pictures show neither theme, nor photographer, nor country, until you click on each one.

This is less info than you get on most Linky pages and I'll be bold here and say that for me this does not help to catch my interest (although I haven't really thought about it until now)

There is also no longer any list of old themes nor a traditional archive by year/month in the sidebar. So if one comes looking for something specific the only option is the search box, or by member. (This struck me earlier today when I actually did come looking for a specific old post I knew would be somewhere on here.)

Just some thoughts... /Monica
