P.S.

Remember
this from earlier this week?
It turned out to be more trick-of-the-eye than I realized when I put that picture on here.
This is what it looks like now:

And the pink thingy, in case you forgot to go back and check... is the remains of a collapsed autumn market balloon, that I found floating in the river one week after the market. The other day (this week) I happened to notice it's still there in the water, a whole month after I took the shot above. But on that occasion I was so far away from the spot that I realized it was no use trying to take another photo. (You see so much farther now that all the leaves have dropped off the trees!!!)

Sarah..Cottage Garden Studios

So thrilled to be part of this wonderful group. I am a artist, photographer, teacher and Mom from North Idaho. When I am not doing artwork or shooting pics with my camera I am chasing preschoolers....or my own five children!!

I have always taken pictures, but only recently purchased a good digital camera. We needed a better camera to take macro shots of my husband's mineral specimens & my artwork. What I discovered was a whole new way to express my artsy side. Photography has become a passion!!

I adore doing macro photography. I am especially fond of catching insects and macro shots of flowers. I am also very fond of photographing children. I run a preschool so I get lots of opportunity to get candid shots. I love the fact that I can shoot to my hearts delight with a digital camera..how fun is that! I have alot of fun digitally altering some of the photos!

Thank you for having me!! I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful photography! Namaste, Sarah

Howdy Driver

Photobucket

This fellow is hanging over northbound traffic on Route 152 in Dresher PA.
He's a little blurry cause I didn't want to stand in the street to get a good shot
or it might have been my last shot.

In The Mood

I was taking pictures of the boys pumpkins the other night when I noticed that the top on this one was actually quite pretty. Just thought I'd share it :)

Cover Up

Dorothy...you in there?

This was taken with my coolpix, point and shoot. It was a cold, rainy day and we were out in a corn maze with cousins and their little ones. I braved the rain and snapped a few shots of this 'spooky' house. :)

Evil 'Spell' Check Please

The evil side of me derives much pleasure from this misSPELLing on a university campus sign referring to one's destiny. There's just too much ammunition here. {evil laughter}
OK, enough of that, back to the nice me.

Carving Time

This is the church and pumpkins where I took the earlier picture of the pumpkin. The biggest one on top of the table is the one in the picture.

What sets the Halloween mood better then omnious clouds rolling in, bringing with it destruction and stormy weather? And nothing good can come from green-layered clouds, right?

Guess What?

Have a guess. It's a straight-from-the-camera shot, no editing.

It's that time of year!

My favourite modern crockery

My Sister-Friends Collects

The Set

Glasses

Glasses by Iittala, Finland
The founding of the Iittala company is said to date to 1881, when a glass factory was founded by Swede Petrus Magnus Abrahamsson. The first workforce had to be brought from Sweden due to the lack of skilled glassblowers in Finland. /Wikipedia

The lower glass (to the right) is one of a set of six I got from friends when I moved away from home to study,  34 years ago. All six are still intact and often used!

Mugs from Sweden

Two sets of mugs of Swedish design. To the left, "Tulip" by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien. To the right,
Höganäs "Collection" mug with black wooden saucer. These come in several different colours; I have three blue, three dark green. They are my favourites because they're very comfortable to hold. (Collage made in Picasa 3)

Ancient China

The first two belonged to my Great Grandmother, and the final is part of my set. I love them all!

Antiques

I don't have a lot of photos of cups and plates and have not gotten round to remedy that yet this week. But I found this photo. Two "family heirlooms"... A coffee grinder, and a flour container. I can't quite remember if these belonged to my grandmother or to her sister. I seem to remember a different coffee grinder used by my grandmother in her kitchen, back in my early childhood. No brewing in those days but boiling the coffee in a kettle, and letting the grounds sink before she poured it. Sometimes she gave the kettle a second boiling. Nothing to waste... I keep "things" in the flour container, but not flour.

The Little Jelly Glass

Strawberry Milk in the Making Glass

You'll see that I've changed the theme title (AGAIN - I'm getting rather annoyed with myself) to Dishes. I began thinking of how boring it might become if we all posted tea cups and saucers all week long....so, let us include bowls, glasses, dinner plates, specialty wall plates and the likings of.

And...please...do forgive me, once again. I will really do my best not to continue this madness :)
