Mirror, Mirror On The Wall…

DSCN7100-1

For the Sculpture Festival, mirrors were put up on a previously plain white wall along the river, in imitation of a barcode pattern. What you see in this picture is the photographer (i.e. me) facing the wall and taking a picture of the mirrors. Behind me is the river, and on the other side of the river a park.

Ancient Indian Sculpture

This is a 742 Year old sculpture found in Keshava Temple at Somanathpura. Here you can see a Hindu god seated on his throne wearing a crown and jewelery's and the godess seated on his lap and resting her feet on the lotus flower, elephant is supporting the lotus so that it does not bend because of the weight on it.

A Work In Progress

Collage_Brandqvist_stenhuvud4

As part of a Sculpture Festival, one artist had a work in progress – a giant stone head - moved into the centre of the town for the summer, so that people can watch him work on it. When he has finished polishing it, the whole head will have the darker colour than you can see below the ear. The face is irregular and looks different depending on where you stand. The artist says this is meant to reflect that there are many different sides to a person. The original block of granite weighed 14 tons.

Mahisasura Mardini

One of the many sculptures found on Chenakeshava Temple at Somnathpur. The Statue in the middle of the picture is titled "Mahisasura Mardini" which means slayer of the demon mahisasura. Statue depicts godess Chamundeshwari slaying the demon Mahisasura. These sculptures dates back to early 12th

I Love Reflections

Tricks to the Eye

The Photo above I shared under the theme Trick to the Eye.
The one below was taken at the same spot but at a slightly different angle, and also different time of year and different light. I shared that one before under the theme Sepia Tones.

A Snail's Pace

Life simply tastes sweeter
when we savour every flavour
it has to offer us.
Look around ~
the world brims
with little things
that bring joy.

From Sweden’s National Day, 6 June

On 19 June, there will be a lot of flag-waving again, because of a royal wedding. Our Crown Princess Victoria is getting married to her fiancé Daniel Westling (who after the wedding will be entitled Prince).

Rose Hips...........

Stopping by for lunch...

This was an incredible late-spring day here in Houston and my yard was filled with butterflies, hummingbirds, and bumble bees all day. I must have shot close to 400 frames that day.

Colors of Nature

The colors of nature fascinate me. It was just after a rain that I snapped this picture. I love how the rain droplets look like jewels at the ends of the stamen.

Balls of Colour..

These tiny balls of felted wool sit in a bowl, on my desk next to my computer.........

...they are about the size of a Malteser. Eye candy to inspire!

Road to Bulgaria

That road is going to great river Danube, about 25 km from the point where this picture was taken. Here can be seen a small part of Comana forest, one of the oldest of Romania... Today remained only 3700 ha, but in early Middle Ages was huge, covering maybe half of Wallachia.
