Lonely Swing

One last post for the knee-high catagory.

From Soaring Through The World In Pictures

Bud..........

One more for the road

Taken at Melbourne's Shrine which commemorates soldiers in all wars. This shot was taken just after our Anzac Day in April which recognises Australia's and New Zealand's army corp.

Children of Cambodia.

The little girl depicted lives in poverty, but she is still quite 'The Lady' with her pearls, earrings and beautiful smile.

It was only when I added the second photo to here that I realised what one of the boys was carrying.

However, there is another budding photographer in the background which was what I wanted to display.

The pictures were taken in a village in north Cambodia.

The Peanut and The Train......

A Peanut's Misfortune...

A peanut sat on the railroad track,
His heart was all a flutter,
Here comes the 3:59

Purple

I have no idea what this bushy plant is called, but I love the color.

Dear Blog Members

Hello all. I just thought that I'd explain why I've taken the banner header away (and if you scroll all the way down, you'll see that it's not entirely gone). Due to the increasing amount of new members (we love new members), I am not able to keep up with the creative aspect of making the banner to include everyone and wouldn't want to leave any of you out of it. You all take and share wonderful photos here, and all are quite deserving of being in the banner!!

So, for now, I will keep the old one at the end of the page...just to have it, and will leave the simple title banner at our top :)

Another Fungi.....

Cigarette Cuphea

Li'l Lizzard

Not too sure what this little fellow is but spotted him one day in St. Martin, Caribbean. Can see the reflection of me kneeling in front of him in his eye (assuming it's a he of course).

Night scene

Kneeling on my terrace yesterday night, this is the very imperfect picture I took. Just wanted to share this little bit of French countryside falling asleep!

Who's In There?

I noticed a neat little peek hole from the other side of the bunny pen and saw that the bunny was resting just in front of it. It was simple, without question...I had to go over to the back side and peek my camera through the hole. After the shot, it was my finger. When I touched the bunnies head...it jumped a little and then he focused his pretty blue eye through the hole at me :)

Mt Taranaki

I was standing shooting the mountain when I realized the fence and grass might add a nice touch. I can't actually get down on my knees, but I bent over and held the camera down as far as I could.

Morning dew

Knee high view near a lake in Corrèze, on a sunny early morning.

more knee high

I got all excited last week because my chickens are laying again. I had these on the table but knelt right beside them to get this shot! Is that cheating? :)

Flower on the Shore

I literally took a knee for this shot.  I wanted to get the opposing shore of the lake in the background.

Hoi An Ducks

I did kneel to get this photo.
Was in a market place in Hoi Ahn, Vietnam.

Kansas Wheat

These few stalks were left behind after harvesting.

edited because I keep forgetting to label the post...  I'll get it together one of these days!  :)

My sweetest view

Knee high, the sweetest view I can get is this one. No words to say how much I care for it!

Share Housing PNG style

While in PNG where we stayed was home for these little critters, also known as Geckos.

They're quite noisy just as the sun goes down (must be a mating ritual or something), and are extremely agile and super fast!

A hard earned thirst...

I did some volunteer work in Papua New Guinea in 2009 and at the end of a long hot day, this was the elixir of life!

Shining White.....

Knee High Shots

I was actually lying down to get this mantis. Love the lipstick!

Evening visitor

This little fellow's wandering in my garden every evening. We get a lot of newts in my area. I like these quiet, shy little animals!

In my Herb Garden

These are teeny tiny coriander seedlings. I had some coriander that had bolted and gone to seed so I just sprinkled them in the herb garden, thinking that really it would probably be too cold for them, this being winter and all. But up they popped. They were less than 1cm here. If you look closely you can just see the first proper leaves peeking out.

Little Frog

I was out shooting flowers one day when this little guy landed near my foot.

I had to nearly lay down on the rock to get the shot.  He's only about the size of my little finger (and I'm a very small person!)

Kia Ora 웃

I'm Laura. I'm originally from Scotland but emigrated to New Zealand 5 years ago with my lovely husband. I'm lucky enough to have dual nationality now,  so I'm a McKiwi!

Before we moved here I was a teacher, I taught children with challenging behaviour and severe autism but when we arrived in NZ I became a farmer. Having never even had a garden before it would be safe to say it was a rather steep learning curve, one which I am still following.

We live up in the Far North on a 24 acre, 'wee farm'. We've got lots of various animals and three mad dogs which I absolutely adore.

I fairly recently got into photography when my husband bought me a canon DSLR for a 'significant' birthday. I have yet to learn what all the buttons and dials mean so I kind of hope for the best. I love macro photography so as soon as I could I treated myself to a macro lens.

I'm really happy to have found you all. I've had a look around and the photographs here are stunning. I'm looking forward to contributing.

It's my dairy of life and I blabber on it...a lot.

No Fairies here today..........

In the middle of a forest

Being the amateur that I am, I won't tell you of the numerous shots I took to get this one!
It was taken in the middle of a pine forest in northern Victoria, Australia.

I work with a Canon DSLR, very basic, and have a lot of problems with being too close at times.
Any suggestions anyone on how I can improve please?

A camelia first thing in the morning, covered in dew. I think it looks like tiny pearls on a wedding dress!

Lakeside Canoe - KS, USA

For the Week of Water

This canoe was sitting on the shore of a small lake near my home in Kansas.

Greetings from the Land of Oz!

Hello everyone!  Tiffany here from the great state of Kansas in the USA.  I am a wife, mother of 3, musician and teacher.

I teach Middle School and High School Vocal Music (approximately ages 11-18, for those not in the USA) and I love my job!  One day, I hope to complete a graduate degree in conducting and direct a University-level choir.  For now, I am learning so much where I am while making the world better one voice at a time!  I also perform locally with an adult Chorale and occasionally with the Community Theater.

I am a lover of beauty, which naturally led me to photography.  My parents allowed me to take my first photograph with their 35mm camera when I was 5 years old in Yellowstone National Park, and I have been hooked since.  These days, I shoot with a Canon Rebel XT (also known as an EOS 350D).  I currently enjoy shooting macros in nature, portraits (both formal and candid) of my children, and have been concentrating on scenics this summer.  I also have a thing for old barns.

This summer, while on break from school, I decided to really concentrate on improving my photography and learning to use my camera to it’s fullest potential.  While I have learned a lot, I still have SO far to go!  I am completely self-taught.  (Isn’t a public lending library wonderful??)  Therefore, I began a blog to chronicle my journey because I find that having to explain what you are doing and why is the best way to learn it thoroughly.  This, in turn, has introduced me to the wide world of blogging.

I have a strong desire to travel, but do not get the opportunity nearly as much as I would like.  For me, the thrilling thing about photography combined with the digital age is that I can see the beauty of the entire globe from here in my living room!  If I should happen to find free time (ya, right!) I enjoy dancing, acting, hiking, piano playing, painting, sewing, quilting, needlework, and online gaming.  I also shoot pub-darts with my husband once a week.  As you can guess, there are never enough hours in a day for me!

I am so excited about joining along with fellow photographers from around the world!  Thank you for having me!

drops

I love these drops that were left on a lupin after a rain. The rain here in NZ is very fine most of the time, so the droplets are very photogenic!

Sparkling Drop.....

A last drop of water to finish off the watery week for me....

...a tiny drop on the edge of a winter branch hit by the early morning sun.
